Austin and Neff earned NFCA West All-Region First-Team and Second-Team honors, respectively.

May 12, 2021

LOUISVILLE, Ky. --- One day after being named First-Team All-PacWest, Paige Austin and Kayla Neff were both selected to the NFCA West All-Region Team. The duo helped make up the 209 total athletes selected within the eight regions.

Austin was recognized by the NFCA for the second time in her career. Following a 2019 All-Region Second-Team nod, the BU pitcher added a NFCA All-Region First-Team distinction to her list of accolades on Wednesday.

The senior was untouchable this season, compiling 131 strikeouts to lead the PacWest by 52 total strikeouts. Through 20 appearances and 18 starts, Austin fanned at least 10 batters in six contests.

Austin's success in the circle directly led to Eagle victories, as she compiled 10 wins on the year. The four-year standout secured a double-digit win total for the fourth time in her career with her final appearance of the regular season.

Neff picked up a NFCA All-Region Second-Team selection with the midweek announcement. The senior landed her second All-Region recognition in her career, being named First-Team All-Region in 2019.

At the plate, Neff was the leader in the clubhouse for the 19-13 Biola Eagles. The Huntington Beach native was a well-rounded talent on offense, pacing BU in batting average, slugging percentage and walks.

The BU catcher added to a superb season with outstanding fielding numbers. Neff caught 17 runners stealing to set a new career-high for a season, while leading the PacWest in the category.

Both players will look to have a major impact on the team's postseason aspirations, as BU awaits the NCAA Division II Regional Championships selection show on May 16 at 7:00 pm.
