The Eagles had some great marks against elite competition at the Bryan Clay Invitational.

AZUSA, Calif. --- Biola wrapped up day two of the Bryan Clay Invitational as they now look to prepare for PacWest Championships on April 30 and May 1. Multiple Eagles set school records and personal bests in their final tuneup. 

Notorious for the elite competition that the meet draws, the sprint and hurdle races with four or more heats were split into an invitational and open section. The invitational section featured the best times of prelims and had tremendous talent in each lane. 

After qualiifying for the 100 hurdles on Friday with a new lifetime best of 14.41, Kiersten Huitt finished fifth in the finals heat on Saturday with a of 14.54. Huitt faced some tough competition including Team USA and New Balance athlete Sydney McLaughlin. Mclauglin and two others did not score in the 100 hurdles invite finals but faced off against Huitt on Friday.

Natasha Currence and Alexis Madrid-Cordero raced in the 400 open section finals for BU. Currence finished in third with a time of 59.24, just shy of her personal best of 58.13 from April of 2019. Madrid-Cordero also nearly missed her collegiate best of 1:00.06 as she finished with a time of 1:00.99 on Saturday.

Chase Williams qualified himself for the 100 invite as he competed against 2016 Olympian Ameer Webb, and three Brazil Olympic Team athletes in Paulo Andre Camilo, Felip Dos Santos and LuAs Gabriel Silva. Williams held his own as he finished in sixth place and was first amongst PacWest finishers with a personal best of 10.72.

In the 100 open section Jahquez Durham took first place with a time of 10.98 for a new collegiate best. 

Emily Alvarez set a new school record by running a 59.55 in the 400 hurdles open section and came in second place behind APU's Jaylah Walker. Huitt also ran in the event and finished seventh with a time of 1:05.83.

Freshman Abby Buckley just missed the top three in the 200 open section as she clocked a time of 25.73 for a fourth place finish. In the men's 200 open section Chase Williams came in third with a time of 22.02 improving on his 22.23 mark from the Team 4 Titus Invitational in March of this season. 

In the women's 4x400 relay Biola's A team comprised of Kiersten Huitt, Natasha Currence, Shelby Rogers and Emily Alvarez set a new school record with the 3:53.47 mark. The quartet surpassed the 3:54.56 mark set by Ashley Bush, Alexandra Sciarra, Tayllor Lemphers and Brooke Forsi in 2012 also at APU.BU's A team finished in fourth as the Brazil Olympic Team took first place while Fresno Pacific and Azusa Pacific took second and third respectively.

On the men's side of the event, Jahquez Durham, Trevor Hormel, Worthy Rennia-Gutierrez and Mathias Davis combined for a time of 3:20.33 for fourth place. 

Angel Escobar set a school record in the 10K as he posted a time of 30:25.01 to beat Ryan Thompson's record of 30:44.61 set in 2019. 

Junior Rebeka Preston set a new school record in the triple jump with a mark of 12.12 m (39'9.25") to come in third place in the event. Preston writes her name in Biola's record book as she surpassed Natasha Miller's mark of 12.03 (39'5.5") set in April of 2009.
