LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola's Lilly McNeill and Chris Rossow bring home Women's Tennis and Men's Basketball PacWest Conference Southern California Player of the Week honors respectively. 

 

Biola Women's Tennis has been unstoppable lately, earning five straight wins over opponents winning four of four decisions in March. Freshman Lilly McNeill has been playing at a very high level for BU Women's Tennis this season. 

 

Head Coach David Goodman is proud of his freshman for being a key role player for the program.  "Lilly has improved her doubles game and has won some huge matches this past week," said Coach Goodman. "Our team has a lot of trust in her to come through in big match situations." 

 

McNeill has an impressive line in four matches since March 1, winning a total of 3 doubles matches with partner Brooke Fager and going 6-7 in singles sets for BU. Against the Academy of Art, McNeill came through with a clutch singles win in the final match of the day to give the Eagles the narrow  4-3 victory. 

 

One day later, McNeill continued her dominance over Domincan University, blanking the Penguins 6-0 in the doubles win and sweeping her opponent 6-3 and 6-4 on the singles side. In her final match of the week against Fresno Pacific, McNeill and Fager tallied their fourth-straight win to improve to 7-1 on the season while McNeill shut out her singles opponent in singles for the second time this season. 

 

Men's Basketball senior Chris Rossow was tabbed as the PacWest Player of the week after leading his team to victory over the No. 12 Point Loma Sea Lions on March 6, 79-74. Rossow contributed with a team-high 24 points while adding four assists and being perfect from the foul line going five-for-five. His efforts not only earned the team the win, but also the automatic bid to the 2021 NCAA Division II West Regionals in Golden, Colorado. 

 

Head Coach Dr. Dave Holmquist was impressed with Rossow's performance and ball distribution against PLNU. "Chris was terrific in the game against Point Loma last week. He was our leading scorer and his penetration created numerous opportunities for teammates," said Holmquist. "Throughout the game, he made so many big plays."

Last season, Rossow was named to the PacWest Conference All-Tournament team after leading Biola to the PacWest title game where he averaged 27 points-per-game, 6.3 assists-per-game, 4.3 rebounds-per-game, and 2.3 steals-per game in contests against Concordia Irvine, Azusa Pacific and Point Loma. 

 

The Eagles are going to look to Rossow to continue building on his record setting performances in March as they head to the NCAA West Regional later this week. BU kicks off game one of the NCAA West Regionals on March 12, against Fresno Pacific at 5 p.m. PT. If the Eagles win game one, game two is scheduled for March 13 at 5 p.m. PT against the host institution, Colorado School of Mines.
