BU Sweeps Warriors

The Eagles hit the road and took care of business at Wesmont, blanking the host squad, 4-0.

Box Score SANTA BARBARA, Calif. --- The BU women's tennis team continued its winning ways on Thursday, defeating the Westmont Warriors by a 4-0 final margin. Biola netted its ninth-straight win in the road matchup, improving its record to 11-2.

"The women are having an amazing run right now," said head coach David Goodman. "Singles and doubles have been solid and everyone is stepping up in big matches."

The opening point of the contest belonged to the Eagles, as they grabbed two-of-three doubles matches. Brooke Fager and Lilly McNeill landed their 11th win this season as a duo, opening up doubles with a 6-2 victory. Ines Diaz and Gaby Carvajal followed with their first doubles match together and found success, securing the point for BU with a 6-3 set.

The next three points needed to clinch the match came quickly for the Eagles. Three singles victories ended in straight-sets for BU, beginning with Madison Swaney who logged her fourth singles match of the season. The junior was the first to finish, grabbing a 6-1, 6-1 triumph.

Diaz followed suit with a comfortable win in her matchup in the No. 5 spot. The Gijon, Spain native collected her seventh singles win, while remaining perfect from the fifth flight. 

Colbeyshae Emery provided the clincher for Biola, defeating her opponent 6-1, 6-4. The win marked the seventh-straight victory for the standout sophomore.

With the two teams playing to clinch, the other three singles matches went unfinished. Prior to being cut short, Fager was in prime position for another BU win, leading by one set to none with a 4-3 lead in set number two.

The Eagles will be back in action on Saturday, taking on Azusa Pacific in an away competition.
