LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Paige Austin was the impact player for the Eagles last week and ultimately landed a PacWest Pitcher of the Week award, as announced on Monday. The honor given to the top pitcher in the southern California pod marked the fifth pitcher of the week award and sixth weekly honor of her career from the conference offices.

"This past week/weekend it was extremely cool to see Paige pitch with such passion," said head coach Nikki Udria. "I am so proud of her and how she is leading our team."

Austin turned in three pitching performances on the week, picking up two wins and 20 total innings in the circle. The righty was untouchable with 28 strikeouts, including back-to-back double-digit strikeout outings against Dominican.

The Los Alamitos, California native notched a 0.90 earned-run average, while posting a 0.7 WHIP. Austin gave up just three hits in two contests against DUC and tossed a shutout in a winning effort on Saturday.

"This is only the beginning of her getting started and I can't wait to see how she finishes the year," added Udria. "I believe there are great things in store for her and her leadership on the field with our team and pitchers."

Austin and the Eagles will be back in action on the road at Azusa Pacific on Wednesday.
