MOORPARK, Calif. --- Day One of the Cal Lutheran University Regals Invitational saw no lack of competition as not one of the four teams competing hold more than a four stroke advantage.

Biola Golf sits in second place as a team with a score of 322, only four strokes behind the University of Redlands (318). Chapman University (325) sits in third place, closely followed by the host Cal Lutheran University (328).

Competing as an individual, Sophia Karnazes checks in tied for third-place as her score of 77 ranks best among the Eagles competing in the CLU Regal invitational. Karnazes completed the first four holes at par followed by two birdies and two bogeys to wrap up the front-nine witht the back nine being just as strong.

Sami Penor continues to be a force for the Eagles as she shot the team low of 78 through the first 18 holes of the CLU Regals Invitational. 

Behind Penor by one stroke, Rachel Reynods and Mary Grace Davidson both shot 79 on the par 72 course after day one. Reynolds finished the day with four-birdies, six holes at par and five bogeys while Davidson shot ten holes at par. 

Following a decent front-nine, freshman Brady Turnquist stumbled on the 586-yard 14th hole shooting five over par to finish with a score of 86 on the day. 

Jules Loibl made her first appearance for BU this season, her first competition in over a year. Loibl was unable to join the team at the start of spring but Head Coach Jane Carr is glad she is back regardless of her results today. "Today's score of 88 is definitely not indicative of what Jules is capable of," said Coach Carr. "She has been out of competition for a year and today was about getting her back in competitive shape."
