BU T-2, Penor and Reynolds Top 5 After Day One at Pioneer Shootout

March 01, 2021

ROUND ONE RESULTS
ALAMEDA, Calif. --- With day one at The Corica Park Golf Course in the books, BU is tied for second after 18 holes at the Pioneer Shootout. The Eagles (+21, 309) are only four strokes back of the lead, held by the host, Dominican (+17, 305).

Head Coach Jane Carr acknowledged that although the team struggled more than they are used to today, they are still in a great position going into day two. Overall, she was pleased with how her team competed.

"Sami was solid today with four birdies and a lot of pars. She was lagging the ball well and seeing puts fall," said Coach Carr.  "Rachel was an anchor for us and that is what you want from the fifth player in the line up. She played with a lot of confidence and I'm so proud of her back nine stretch of pars," said Coach Carr.

Junior Sami Penor (E, 72) sits in second place after shooting even on the par 72 course, she sits just one stroke behind Dominican's Clair Shubin (-1, 71). Penor made two birdies in the front nine on the par-5 sixth hole and par-4 ninth hole, she matched that total with two more birdies in the back nine.

Senior Rachel Reynolds (+3, 75) joins Penor in the top-5 with a fourth place finish after day one of the Pioneer Shootout. Reynolds tallied one birdie on the par-4 third hole while adding 13 holes at par and four bogeys after the first 18 holes.

The Eagles begin round two on Tuesday at 7:16 a.m. off the first tee with Penor and Turnquist followed by a 7:27 a.m. tee time for Davidson and Karnazes and finally Reynolds and Cornelius (individual) with a 7:38 a.m. tee time. Live scoring will be available at Golf Stat
