SAN LEANDRO, Calif. --- As noted yesterday, for the second-straight week Biola Women's Golf continued to battle with Point Loma for a team tournament title. After round two at Holy Names' Bay Area Invitational the Eagles (301-301-602) finished eight strokes back from PLNU (298-296-594), taking second place as a team. Biola was the only team to place four finishers in the top-10.

This was BU's second second-place team finish in just as many tournaments. It is now considered an expectation to finish in the top-two as Head Coach Jane Carr and her team set their sights on a first place finish and expect big things from the rising program. 

"Right now we are competing short handed with two of our regular Top 5 players not in the line up," said Coach Carr. "We are leaning heavy on our freshmen and they are stepping it up. I couldn't be more proud of Brady Turnquist and Mary Grace Davidson coming through as freshmen with Top 5 finishes this tournament."

Biola Golf was able to match their second-best team score of 301 on day two of the Holy Names' Bay Area Invitational. For only the second time in program history, BU had five score under 77. 

In addition to a second place team finish, BU had three individuals finish in the top-five. Sami Penor (72-77-149) was the Eagles' leading scorer as she wrapped up the tournament shooting 149, securing her a fourth place individual finish. 

Brady Turnquist (77-74-151) was the team's leading scorer on day two shooting 74, just two over on the par-72 course. Turnquist would finish the Holy Names' Bay Area Invitational tied for fifth-place with teammate Mary Grace Davidson (76-75-151). Davidson improved her score by one stroke from day one, and she finished the tournament second in scoring on par-3s.

Turnquist had a consistent front-nine finishing just three strokes over par. She tallied one birdie and completed four holes at par in the front-nine. Turnquist would finish the back-nine even stronger with two birdies and six pars.

Senior Sophia Karnazes (76-76-152) matched her score of 76 from day one of competition finishing in a tie for seventh place. The senior finished with 10 pars and was challenged more on the front-nine with five bogeys than the back-nine, which featured two birdies and just one hole above par. 

Rachel Reynonds (77-76-152) trailed Karnazes by one stroke finishing with an 11th place tie. Jessica Cornelius (78-80-158) continued to compete as an individual. Her 17th place finish gave the Eagles six finishers in the top-20 of the tournament that featured 34 golfers.
