LA MIRADA --- A drama filled room awaited the 2021 DII Men's Soccer Tournament Selection Show on Monday afternoon. The Biola men's soccer team impressed in the 2021 campaign with an overall record of 11-6 but was not a shoe-in for the tournament.

The squad leapt with excitement with their name being announced as the tenth seed in the West Super Region. The Eagles did enough in regular season play to put them amongst the top 40 teams in the nation.

"This is just a culmination of the hard work of everyone dedicated; sacrificing every single day to make this work," said head coach Joey O'Keefe. "This is a team effort. I have to credit every single player, coach, and athletic trainer for helping us get to this point."

The announcement marks the first nationals appearance for the Eagles since 2015 and the first ever NCAA Nationals appearance in program history. For Biola it is the eighth regional berth for any team, since becoming full members of NCAA Division II.

"This is a celebration for the whole school and what it can mean for the men's soccer program to put Jesus on a platform at a higher level," added O'Keefe. "As long as we have the opportunity to keep playing, we are going to continue to glorify God with what we do."

Biola went 1-2 against other nationals bound teams, including a 1-0 win against their round one foe, Cal Poly Pomona. Just three matches into the regular season, BU and CPP faced off at Al Barbour Field, so the upcoming matchup on Friday will present a fresh slate for both teams.

The first round match between the seventh-seeded Broncos and the tenth-seeded Eagles is set for Friday at 11:00 am PST. The contest will be played at second-seeded Midwestern State in Wichita Falls, Texas.
