Make Some Noise

Biola Cross Country receives regional and national recognition in the latest USTFCCCA Coaches Poll.

October 07, 2021

NEW ORLEANS --- Biola Cross Country continues to make noise as teams gained both regional and national recognition in the latest US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) coaches poll.

The women's squad advanced one spot in the regional rankings, moving their way up to No. 5 in the west. After receiving votes for three-straight weeks, the women's squad finally broke into the national rankings, coming in at No. 27 and making their first appearance this year.

On the men's side, the team remains at No.4 in the west region and returned to No.22 in the nation after dropping to the No. 23 ranked team in the last poll, securing top-30 rankings for both teams.

Both squads ran their last race on the 25th of September, finishing with exciting numbers. The men's and women's team both had runners in the top-20 finishes, securing a second place team finish in both the men's and women's races. Jerry Baltzer earned a sixth place individual finish for the men while Lynette Ruiz notched a ninth place finish for the women's team at The Master's Invitational.

The Eagles are set to return to the course on October 9, competing in the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational in Claremont, California.
