WAIMEA, Hawaii --- Biola completed the second round of the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate in second place Tuesday at the Hapuna Golf Course. Entering the day, Biola sat in first place after carding a team score of 293 through the first 18 holes. Brady Turnquist and Rachel Shaw led the team with a first and fourth place finish on the individual leaderboard, following the day two action.

Biola Golf's execution on the day placed the Eagles (293-304-597) just two strokes out of first place, as Grand Valley State (297-298-595) declared the top standing with Colorado Christian University (309-292-601) slightly behind Biola in third.

Even though it wasn't the Eagles best day as a whole, three time PacWest Golfer of the Week Brady Turnquist helped her team stay in the top three out of the 12 teams in the Intercollegiate. Turnquist continued to leave a mark on the course. "Brady is all business on the golf course, there is this switch that goes on and that's when you know it is game time," commented Head Coach Jane Carr. The Oregon native improved from her day one score by two strokes, carding a 70 to lead the Eagles and take sole possession of first place out of 73 golfers. 

Not only did Turnquist play a huge role for the Eagles but Freshman Rachel Shaw came behind tied for fourth place with Julia Sanchez from Grand Valley State. Shaw turned in a card of 74 on day two. The freshman bounced back from two missed shots on hole nine and 10 that led to doubles but for being a young player, "this year she is showing the poise of a veteran," said Coach Jane. 

"Turnquist and Shaw provided the anchor we needed today to keep us in the hunt," said Carr.
 
Mary Grace Davidson competed as an individual for Biola. The sophomore carded a round of 76, improving from her day one score to sit tied for 24th place on the individual leaderboard.

Veteran Sami Penor (80) and Freshman Melanie Reyes (85)  sit tied for 29th place. Freshman Lauren Lee rounded out BU's team score carding a score of 80 on day two.  

"It was a hard fought battle, today wasn't our best golf, but it was what we needed to keep ourselves in the hunt. This team will come back stronger tomorrow," said coach Jane Carr. 

The Eagles will vie for the top spot at the Hapuna Golf Course in the final round of the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate. Biola tees off at 12:48 p.m. PST on Wednesday.
