CLEVELAND --- A total of 104 Biola Eagles were recognized with Academic Achievement Awards by the D2 Athletic Directors Association on Thursday. 

The D2 ADA awards this honor to sophomores through seniors who record a 3.5 GPA or above during the academic year and recognized the highest number of total student-athletes in the award's 13 year existence with the 15,215 recipients this year. Biola's 104 awards and Concordia's 105 combined for almost half of the PacWest Conference's 523 total recipients. 

Biola also obliterated it's previous watermark of total honorees with this year's total of 104; 69 Eagles earned D2 Academic Achievement recognition in 2018, followed by 65 in 2019. Fifteen of BU's athletic programs were represented among the Eagles' recipients and all 15 saw increases in their number of awards compared to 2018-19. 

Head Coach Erin Brunelle's women's soccer team paced all the programs with 21 awards. They were followed by Women's Cross Country/Track & Field (18) and Baseball (11), who also reached double digits. 

The Academic Achievement Awards is a program that recognizes the academic accomplishments of student-athletes at the Division II level. In order for a student-athlete to receive an Academic Achievement Award, the athletics director of the Division II institution MUST BE a CURRENT dues-paying member of the D2 ADA.

• Also, the student-athlete must:
• have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale
• have attended a minimum of two years (four semesters) of college level work
• have been an active member of an intercollegiate team during his/her last academic year
