RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. --- A few years after All-PacWest Biola Softball alumna Aree Ramos graduated from Ontario Christian High School, Kaitlyn Hawkins took up the mantle of being a run producer for the Knights and wrote her name all over the OCHS record books. 

A starter on varsity since her freshman year, Hawkins helped Ontario Christian to a 13-2 record with a .440 batting average and 29 RBI's during her first season of high school softball. It turns out that was just the beginning for the corner-infielder, as Hawkins hit .561 with eight homers the next year according to MaxPreps.com and set a single-season record for RBI's with 51 to push the Knights to a 2018 CIF Southern Section Softball Championship berth. 

The Knights were Ambassador League Co-Champions that year after posting their highest win total since Aree Ramos' senior year (2015). Hawkins also helped Ontario Christian lead the Ambassador League in runs scored twice and finish second in that category during her junior year when she added 30 more RBI's and four more homeruns. 

As she comes to Biola, Hawkins will leave her name in several top-10 lists for OCHS softball with a career .492 batting average, .849 slugging percentage and 18 homeruns among other massive numbers. Her torrid start to the 2020 season had her on pace to be the undisputed best hitter in program history as she collected nine extra-base hits (four homeruns) and 15 RBI's in the nine games OCHS was able to play before the season was halted. 

But her resume is still impressive, nonetheless. Hawkins has been an All-Ambassador League player three times, including two First Team selections, earned All-Inland Valley and All-CIF recognition during her record-breaking sophomore season and served as a team captain for the 2020 team that averaged nine runs per contest. 

Hawkins will still be utilized as a corner infielder at Biola and may see some time in the outfield at Freedom Field. Playing the infield would feel particularly familiar for Hawkins because of the time she spent playing on the 2020 Corona Angels Humphreys travel ball team alongside fellow infielders and Biola Softball signees Abie and Brie Nowak. 
 
Kaitlyn Hawkins will join her new teammates this coming August as Head Coach Nikki Udria's group works to build on an 18-5 start to the 2020 season. More information on the incoming 2020-21 class that will join her at Biola can be found on the Committed Athletes page.
