ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. --- It's quite apparent that Kiersten Huitt had an exemplary four years at Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas. The incoming graduate student competed year-round for the Warriors and was very successful, earning All-Southern Athletic Association honors in both volleyball and track & field while putting her name in the record book for both sports. 

Huitt graduated with distinction from Hendrix this past May and received the Carl Babcock Award for integrity in competition and pursuit of excellence after being part of four school records in track and appearing in the top-10 of four career statistical categories for Hendrix volleyball. 

She also brings a host of other accolades as she enrolls at Biola this Fall. But Huitt is directing her focus forward and is eager to tackle an additional track season in a new setting.

"I chose Biola because it gives me the opportunity to run my final season and to study something I am passionate about," said Huitt, "I'm excited for the challenge this year brings; even though everything will be different and new I know that it is going to be a great year!"
 
Huitt competed regularly in long jump and javelin events with the Warriors, but the 100m hurdles and 400m hurdles is where she excelled most. The New Mexico-native won three conference championships in hurdles events between 2018 and 2019 and qualified for the NCAA DIII Outdoor National Championships in the 100m hurdles as a junior. 
 
Moreover, two of those championships came as a result of personal best-efforts in both hurdle events at the 2019 SAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, where Huitt posted times that would have placed her on the podium in the 100m hurdles at the 2019 PacWest Championships (14.51) and in the top-five in the 400m hurdles (1:04.84) had she run at Biola's conference meet. 
 
Consequently, Huitt looks poised to face new competition in the PacWest and to make the most of the opportunities in front of her. Her time at Hendrix is proof that she's capable of accomplishing the athletic goals she sets for herself. 
 
On top of the championship accomplishments, Huitt also earned three USTFCCCA All-South/Southeast Region recognitions between indoor and outdoor competition and two All-SAA First Team selections after getting second team honors for her freshman performance in the SAA Championships for the 100m hurdles. 
 
She plans to begin a masters program in Intercultural Studies and TESOL certification at Biola after being named to the conference honor roll three times and is one of three student-athletes transferring into the Biola track & field program who have previously won conference championships (Jahquez Durham and Emily Alvarez).
