ORLANDO, Fla. --- Jahquez Durham's track career has taught him a lot about the loving way God has worked in his life. 

Durham's had the opportunity to travel the world as a competitor in three world championships, earned his bachelor's degree and garnered plethora of all-conference recognitions during his four years at Liberty University. And now he's blessed with the chance of leveraging the sport he's competed in for 10 years to kickstart the next phase of his journey. 

Durham will begin his theological studies at Talbot School of Theology while contributing to Biola Track & Field's success and the development of his teammates. 

The Orlando, Florida-native moves across the country after a decorated career competing in indoor and outdoor track with the Liberty Flames. Durham was part of seven teams that won conference championships between Big South and ASUN competition. And as an individual, Durham qualified for the NCAA DI East Regional Championship in the 400 and 4x400 as a sophomore, totaled 13 All-Big South recognitions, and was also named All-ASUN seven times. 

He represented the USA in international competition at the 2019 World University Games in Italy and the 2018 FISA American games in Brazil and has posted several times over the past three years that would have earned him top finishes at the PacWest Championships. Durham has run two 400m and two 200m sprints at outdoor conference championships that would have earned him a podium-finish at the 2019 PacWest Championships had he been competing for Biola.

Durham will understandably set ambitious goals for the coming outdoor season as he pursues a satisfactory conclusion to his collegiate athletic career. But he's also pursuing big goals related to his occupation: Durham intends to get a doctorate degree and hold a career as a pediatric physical therapist.

"Being able to get my master's at Biola prior to my doctorate is a huge blessing while still competing in track & field," said Durham. "I knew I wanted to grow more in my faith and my athletics, and coming to Biola allows me to do that."
