CRESWELL, Ore. --- After starting her collegiate athletic career about 20 minutes from her hometown, Creswell, Oregon-native Cali Allen will go a bit further afield this coming fall so she can study and live in Southern California. 

Despite the distance from home, Allen was already somewhat familiar with Biola because her mother, Kesch, attended the University when Dr. Clyde Cook was president. And the Eagles are confident that Allen will fit right in with Biola's throws group after how successful she was at Northwest Christian University and Creswell High. 

Allen was a four-sport athlete in high school and earned a third-place finish in javelin at the state meet before joining the Beacons. Then she continually improved her personal-best in the javelin throughout her time at NCU while also competing in the shotput and discus toss.

Allen qualified for the 2019 Cascade College Conference Outdoor Track Championships as a freshman and finished fifth in the javelin with a throw of 38.97m. And she followed that with a 41.03m effort this past March that won the javelin event at the Erik Anderson Memorial Icebreaker. With that first throw of her 2020 outdoor season, Allen cleared the NAIA "A" standard, beat the other competitors by 11 feet and eclipsed her own personal best by seven feet. 

The transfer intends to major in sociology with a criminology concentration at Biola and hopes to go into a career in law enforcement. Allen loves spending time outdoors and serving as a leader in youth ministries so she is also looking forward to continued study in a Christian community and as much good weather as Southern California will provide her.
