KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. --- Biola Track & Field is getting a sprinter and longer jumper in Ben Carringer whose internal drive to excel matches his outstanding athleticism. 

Carringer knows how to motivate himself to produce excellent results, graduating as the valedictorian of his high school class is proof of that. But he's also capable of rising to the challenge of elite competition and found great success when he jumped from Oregon's 1A to 4A level as a junior in high school.

The 2019 OSAA 4A Boys Track & Field State Championships saw Carringer win gold medals in four events for second-place Mazama High School and finish as the top scorer at the meet. That same year, the Klamath Falls-native earned podium finishes in the 100m, 200m and long jump at the USATF Oregon Association Junior Olympic Championships with his club team and also claimed ownership of the third-best long jump in the state (22'8") at the Lithia Track & Field Invitational. 

That mark in the long jump made Carringer Oregon's No. 1 returner in that event as a senior and would have beaten the fifth-place finisher in the event at the most recent PacWest Track & Field Championships. 

He was not able to compete with Mazama for a second year due to cancellations related to COVID-19, but Carringer's high school trophy case continues to impress anyway. He will join the Eagles with Skyline League Championships in the 100m and 200m, two podium finishes at the 2018 OSAA 1A State Championships and over 10 event victories to his name. And Biola's men's track program is certainly hopeful he'll continue to find success amid new challenges as he moves to the college ranks. 

Carringer plans to study film and music composition at Biola and hopes to be an orchestral composer and an arranger for films, video games, and other forms of media in the future. He is also looking forward to developing his athletic and creative talents alongside Christian teammates, coaches and professors while working toward those goals.
