LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola Athletics' Top-20 for 19-20 countdown and competition closes out its first round on May 8, with a matchup between a pair of standout team efforts from the spring. The fourth matchup of the first round is between Biola Track & Field's record-breaking fast start and
Colbeyshae Emery's outstanding first year.

Stunning Start:
Biola Track & Field was off to a flying start to its 2020 season when COVID-19 hit back in early-March. The team was just two meet weekends into its schedule, but you could already tell it was set to be phenomenal year. The team saw school records fall on each of those first two meet weekends. Senior
Corry Williams broke the men's heptathlon record with 4,406 points up at the Westmont College Sunshine Indoor Open and Combined Events meet. Meanwhile, out in Claremont, freshman
Kendra Sachse smashed the previous school record in javelin with a mark of 47.65m. It beat the old mark by nearly nine full meters. She won the javelin at both meets she had a chance to compete in this season. Biola's male student-athlete of the year,
Gabe Plendcio, was also off to a flying start to his track season. With his sights set on breaking the 5k and 10k records, he began the year showing real speed with a PR and second-place finish in the 3,000-meter run at the Beach Opener. That was one of handfuls of PRs and lifetime-bests that highlighted a great start from Biola Track & Field.

Colbeyshae Emery fit a historic season for Biola Women's Tennis into just about half of the Eagles' scheduled matches, becoming the Eagles' first ITA All-American after her success at the No. 1 singles and doubles positions for Head Coach
David Goodman's group. Emery went 12-2 at the No. 1 singles position for BLT to earn at No. 5 ranking in the West Region at the end of the year and set a new program record with 10-straight singles victories from February 7 to March 9. Her 12 singles victories are the most in a single year since Brie Meister went 18-4 in 2004 and Emery also teamed up with fellow freshman
Brooke Fager to earn the No. 9 spot in the West Region for doubles teams. She helped Biola to back-to-back wins over PacWest opponents on February 28 and 29 and also earned 10 straight-set victories in her first two months with the Eagles.
