LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola Athletics' Top-20 for 19-20 countdown and competition continues its first round on May 7, with a matchup between a pair of standout team efforts from the winter. The third matchup of the first round is between Biola Men's Basketball's thrilling 4-OT victory over Chaminade and Biola Women's Basketball's home win vs. PLNU, which contained a historic 32-0 run.

60 Minutes Win It: 
This early January clash between the Eagles and Silverswords in Honolulu already felt like a marathon when Chaminade and Biola exchanged small leads five times in the final four minutes. Add four overtime periods that pushed the teams to a full hour of play and you have one of the longest games in the history of Biola Men's Basketball. Chaminade was the more consistent team at the end of regulation and through most of the first two overtime periods. The 'Swords got out to a 7-1 start to the second OT to take a 92-86 lead and force Biola to play a really good three minutes of basketball. Chris Rossow and Michael Bagatourian scored five points in a row for Biola to cut the Chaminade lead to one point with 2 minutes and 17 seconds left in the second overtime. After the home team went up by two with 2.2 seconds left, Biola had to inbound the ball from the far baseline, needing a perfect play to tie or win the game at the buzzer. Rossow caught the ball just inside of half-court, dribbled two full steps to inside the three-point arc and banked the ball in to keep the game going. It took two more periods, but the Eagles finally pulled away in fourth overtime, icing the victory with a three-pointer from Rossow. Michael Bagatourian, Marquise Mosley and Rossow all scored over 20 points, while Bagatourian and Mosley played 56 and 58 minutes, respectively. Big man Solomon Ruddell was also crucial with 16 points off the bench and 8-for-11 shooting at the free throw line in 46 minutes. The win not only became crucial to the Eagles' successful bid to reach the PacWest conference tournament, but it also provided a preview of the incredible run Rossow would go on during the Eagles' path to the conference championship game.

A Run To Remember: 
If you're looking for that turning point, statement win that set the Eagles on a certain trajectory toward the PacWest tournament and laid the groundwork for their success in March, you need look no further than the game on January 29 against Point Loma. The Eagles accomplished something no one in Chase Gym had ever seen in that building, a 32-to-0 run that gave Biola a 20-point lead headed into halftime. After working to erase a nine-point deficit nine minutes into the game, the Eagles' stifling defense nearly shut out Point Loma for the entire second quarter. It took a buzzer beater just before halftime for the Sea Lions to counter the 28 points Biola scored in the quarter with three of their own. That score snapped the 32-point Biola run. Two freshmen, Madi Chang and Stephanie Lee, fittingly paced the Eagles' scoring during the big run, as both women made massive contributions to their team's winning effort against a tough team. Lee simply caught fire with 15 points on 6-for-7 shooting during the first half and perfect shooting from three-point range. Chang made four-straight free throws to start that big stretch and followed it up with back-to-back layups in the second quarter. Led by Lee's five threes and four from Jazz Benn, the Eagles finished the game with 13 three-pointers and chipped in assists on 15 of their 24 makes to lift Biola to 10-4 in PacWest play. Lee ended the game by intentionally missing a free throw so the Eagles finished with exactly 81 points in tribute to the late Kobe Bryant, bookending a night that had begun with a prayer for those directly affected by the Jan. 26 helicopter accident.
