KINGSBURG, Calif. --- As a result of leading by example and his commitment to hard work, Josh Jackson has played a crucial role in several spheres of life at Kingsburg High School in recent years. A team captain in multiple sports and a contributor to several league titles among other accolades, Jackson will continue to pursue several goals concurrently as he joins Biola Track & Field and begins a 3+2 chemical engineering program this fall.

It is not lost on the honors student that the sum of his college commitments will be challenging. But Jackson thrives when challenges bring the best out of him. And he's thankful to a supportive Christian community around him as he starts that journey:

"I chose Biola because of the amazing way the university balances rigorous academics with Christ at the center. Each time I visited, it felt like home," said Jackson. "I'm so excited to be on the track team because of the awesome team atmosphere and committed coaches who value their athletes and put God first."

Jackson will compete in the triple jump and the long jump at Biola after a junior season in which he was named Best Field Athlete for his team and contributed to a Central Sequoia League championship. He currently holds the third-best mark in the Kingsburg record book for the triple jump, was named a team captain for the 2020 season that was cut short, and earned the right to compete at the CIF Central Section Championships as a sophomore. 

His time as a football player is equally as impressive, marked again by CSL league championships and a year as a team captain in 2019. Jackson was an All-Central Sequoia League First Team selection at both defensive end and tight end and was chosen to compete in the Central Valley City-County All-Star game earlier this calendar year. 

Outside of sports, Jackson also serves others on a regular basis. He was the Associated Student Body Commissioner of Activities and the president of the FCA chapter at Kingsburg. He also uses his musical talents at his church to lead his youth group or larger church services. 

As alluded to earlier, Jackson intends to complete Biola's chemical engineering program in partnership with USC so he can work alongside his father as the family's energy startup. Several of his relatives also studied Biola, including his older sister who graduated from the nursing program and three cousins who will also be enrolled at the same time. One of those cousins is Jonas Huckaby, a member of Biola Swim & Dive.
