LIBERTY HILL, Texas --- Biola Men's Soccer has found another great fit on the transfer portal in Izaac Zausch. 

A business administration major who aspires to play soccer professionally, Zausch is an all-conference center back who will continue to fortify Head Coach Torrey Stricklin's backline for the upcoming season. The Eagles have also added a former NJCAA All-American as right back in Kaskile Zawadi and another center back who has started over 90 percent of his team's matches in Haiko Hovak. 

Zausch was one of five Hilltoppers to earn All-Lone Star Conference recognition in 2019 after totalling over 1,500 minutes in 17 starts and helping SEU to five clean sheets. He also earned LSC Defender of the Week honors this past October and will carry an impressive level of consistency into his time at Al Barbour Field: Zausch scored two goals while starting 17 matches and playing over 1,500 minutes in both his freshman and sophomore seasons. 

"I am excited about the addition of Izaac to our program. He is a proven center back at the college level and he will be able to step into that spot and make a difference for us starting this fall," said Coach Stricklin. "Izaac is a competitor and winner; his mentality will be a major asset to our program moving forward." 

Additionally, Zausch picked up LSC Commissioner's Honor Roll recognition last year and played every minute of 14 matches for the Hilltoppers. That meant he played in a lot of big matches and proved he could rise to the occasion in those moments.

Zausch played against six nationally ranked teams in his sophomore year alone and was instrumental in helping St. Edward's advance to the 2019 Lone Star Conference Tournament semifinals where SEU pushed No. 11 St. Mary's into overtime before bowing out. 

The defender also had a decorated high school career after moving to Texas from Riverside, California. Zausch was a member of the All-District First Team three times, the District MVP twice and also advanced to the State Championship Match during his time at Liberty Hill High School. 

Now Zausch is excited that his transfer to Biola will renew his connection to Southern California. But he's also eager to be part of a reloaded Eagles roster that hopes to be a serious contender in the PacWest Conference. 

"I chose Biola for the great education and to be a part of a high quality soccer program. I am originally from Riverside, California so I'm excited to be returning to where I grew up," said Zausch. "But I am also excited for this upcoming season. There are a lot of transfers coming in from top tier programs, and to combine them with an already strong team will set us up for success. Overall I am just very excited and blessed to be able to spend these next two years at Biola!"
