BOGOTÁ, Colombia --- The bright future of the Biola Tennis program and the value of a business administration degree from Biola's highly regarded Crowell School of Business have attracted another premier international talent in Gaby Carvajal.Â
A player who has been consistently rated around the top-10 of Colombia's junior tennis ranking, Carvajal will join Head Coach David Goodman's program this coming Fall with several junior circuit championships to her name and brings promising UTR's of eight and nine in doubles and singles play, respectively.
The last two years have been particularly successful for Carvajal and have lifted her to No. 8 in the latest Colombian under-18 youth rankings that were released in mid-March. In 2018, Carvajal earned an invitation to the Junior Masters National tournament, won doubles tournaments at the Grade 1 and Grade 2 levels and a Grade 2 singles title. Then she followed up in 2019 with an individual U18 singles title that helped the Bogotá Tennis League win a Grade 1 tournament.
Carvajal was also a singles and doubles finalist at the National Yonex Cup last year and has been selected to represent her State at the Colombian Inter-League Championship for six years in a row. She was tabbed as the No. 1 player on that State team for three of those championships.Â
The incoming freshman intends to become a successful high-level manager at a company or to run her own management company after studying business administration at Biola. Carvajal is also excited about the support she'll receive as a member of Biola Women's Tennis while she works to improve her game:
"I chose Biola for the tennis team and environment that Coach Goodman and the girls created," said Carvajal. "I am really excited to challenge myself, improve and to be part of an amazing team. I want to represent Biola as best I can."

Gaby Carvajal will join her new teammates this coming Fall as the Eagles prepare to make another run at the PacWest Championships. More information on the incoming 2020-21 class that will join her at Biola can be found on the
