ARROYO GRANDE, Calif. --- Contributions from divers were instrumental to the great success Biola Swim & Dive saw in 2019-20.

Then freshmen Chloe Hartman and Ashley Vitale were both 'A' finalists in the one-meter and three-meter, respectively, at the PCSC Championships as they helped their team clip Azusa Pacific by one point and earn a third-place finish. Over the course of the season, both women earned conference diver of the week honors for their work in Biola's dual meet wins over APU (Hartman) and Concordia Irvine (Vitale).

This coming fall Arroyo Grande High School senior Eliana Cote will make the Eagles one diver stronger and has already shown a caliber of athleticism and leadership that indicates she'll be a fantastic addition to Head Coach Ryan Kauth's group on the rise. 

Cote picked up a league championship, All-Mountain League recognition and CIF sectional meet experience during her time with the AGHS Eagles. She served as a team captain for two years and was also the Eagles' top finisher in the one-meter dive at the CIF Central Section Championship in 2019, coming in 23rd out of the 53 competitors that qualified.

On top of her work around the pool, Cote was a four-year member of the Arroyo Grande STUNT team, competing with that group since the program's inception during her freshman year. She earned Renaissance Gold membership all four years of high school and is top-20 in her class with a 4.6 GPA. She's done all this while taking part in the children's ministry at her church and participating in short-term mission trips with her youth group. 

Cote plans to major in history and complete the teaching credential process through her secondary-education concentration to become a high school history teacher. She's excited about how being at Biola will help her balance all the things she cares deeply about:

"I chose Biola because I love that it balances all the big things in my life, my faith, academics and athletics," said Cote. "The community at the school is great and you feel that when you're on campus. And I'm excited to come to Biola for collegiate athletics because the team is so supportive and holds faith at the center of all it does."
