HONOLULU, Hawaii --- Biola Softball got off to a flying start to its 12-game Hawaiian road trip. The team won three of four from Hawaii Hilo and Hawaii Pacific last week to improve to 15-4 overall and 10-2 in the PacWest.

The Eagles were led by Paige Austin in the pitching circle and Jennifer Morinishi in the batter's box. As a result, both players earned weekly honors for the PacWest Conference for the second time in the last three weeks.

Austin was incredible, logging 34.1 innings pitched spread over five appearances and holding the other teams to just four runs while posting a 5-0 record. The highlight of her masterful effort was a 10-inning shutout of Hawaii Pacific in game three of the Biola - HPU series. It was the longest outing of her Biola career and helped her reach 11th career complete game shutouts. 

"I am very happy to see Paige continue to be recognized for her success and hard work this season," said Head Coach Nikki Udria. "She continues to grow and her renewed passion for the game is something to be admired. I am excited to see what the future holds and how Paige continues to grow, lead and push herself and her teammates to be the best they can be!"

Austin is currently leading the race for PacWest Conference Pitcher of the Year with a 10-1 overall record and 1.75 ERA. She's worked 72 innings already this year and has 71 strikeouts to go with a batting average against of .205. She is number one in the league in innings, strikeouts, wins and saves. She's also top-5 in ERA, batting average against, fewest losses and more. 

Morinishi earned PacWest Player of the Week for the second time this season as she continues her fantastic season as the conference's most prolific two-way player.

It was her offense that stood out this week as she was the most regular Eagle on the base paths through Biola's 6-2 start. Morinishi recorded 18 total bases this week while recording 11 hits and a .379 batting average. She had five extra-base hits, which included her first collegiate home run.

"Jen has been working extremely hard and it is very rewarding as a coach to see your players' eyes light up when it is finally clicking on the field," said Udria. "I am so happy for Jen and for the success she is having. I know that she will continue to work hard over the course of the season and mature into an even stronger player than she already is!"

She scored four runs and drove in four runs to be involved in seven of BU's 18 total runs scored on the week. Morinishi was perfect in the field with nine putouts and five assists split between her time in center field and in the circle.

As a pitcher, she logged a season-high 14 innings and picked up a win. Batters hit under .300 against her and she helped set Biola up well with some fresh arms headed into its Chaminade series Monday and Tuesday of this week.

For the year, Morinishi is leading the conference in hits, RBI, doubles and slugging percentage and is also top-5 in batting average and on-base percentage.
