Signing Announcement for Amelia Kitts

Excellence At Every Turn

Amelia Kitts’ breadth of experience at Santa Margarita Catholic High School is going to make her an asset on and off the tennis court at Biola.

March 31, 2020

LAGUNA HILLS, Calif. --- Amelia Kitts' breadth of experience at Santa Margarita Catholic High School is going to make her an asset on and off the tennis court at Biola.

Kitts has an extensive list of tennis accomplishments that she built while winning back-to-back-to-back league championships and going 18-6 with SMCHS in 2019. But her excellence in the classroom and in other co-curriculars is just as impressive and will prepare her well for her pre-nursing studies when she enrolls at Biola this coming fall.

"I chose Biola because of the strong faith community combined with their awesome nursing program. And the opportunity to play tennis made it the perfect school for me," said Kitts. "I have heard nothing but great things and I am excited for the opportunities to grow in my faith and knowledge of the Word through the chapels, classes, and the community of believers."

The Laguna Hills, California-native carries a 4.5 GPA and has received scholar athlete recognition four times after taking several AP/IB courses since she started high school. Kitts is also a four-year participant of the Model United Nations at Santa Margarita Catholic and has taken international performance trips to Austria and the Netherlands with the school choir.

Her desire to help others has also led Kitts to help her community in a variety of ways. Her areas of service include work as a youth coach and receptionist at the Nellie Gail Tennis Club and volunteer responsibilities in her church's nursery and at Saddleback Memorial Hospital. That heart for service was foundational for Kitts' intention to join Biola's esteemed nursing program in hopes of eventually working as a nurse practitioner at CHOC Children's Hospital.

In the meantime, Kitts will join Biola Women's Tennis as the team continues to build its clout in the PacWest. Kitts was a varsity player all four of her years at SMCHS and a captain as a senior, won three California Classic tournament championships on the team in addition to the three league titles, and helped her group qualify for team play at CIF playoffs four times.

She also qualified for CIF playoffs as an individual and earned two First Team All-Trinity Leagues honors in doubles.

Amelia Kitts will join her new teammates this coming Fall as the Eagles prepare to make another run at the PacWest Championships. More information on the incoming 2020-21 class that will join her at Biola can be found on the Committed Athletes page.
