ALAMEDA, Calif. --- After almost a month off Biola Women's Golf had to shake off a bit of rust as they got back to work at day one of the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout at Corica Park Golf Course in Northern California.
 
Biola sits 11^th overall after one of three rounds, shooting a 327 during very windy conditions on the course. It was windy for everyone, but Head Coach Jane Carr said the Eagles had an extra tough time with it today and will look to make adjustments for round two tomorrow.
 
CSU San Marcos leads the field following the first day of competition. The Cougars carded a 304 to open their scoring. Academy of Art is the highest PacWest Conference school, sitting second with a 306. Point Loma and Holy Names are also just in front of Biola on the big board.
 
The Eagles' lowest individual scorer was Jules Loibl who entered the clubhouse with an 80 (+8). Loibl is tied for 23^rd after day one. She's 12 strokes back from the tournament's leader, Iveta Posledni of Academy of Art, who had a historic day carding a -4 score of 68.
 
Loibl's round was started with a really good first nine. She earned pars on her first four holes, before recording back-to-back birdies right after before closing her first nine holes with par-par-bogey to sit at -1. Unfortunately, a stretch of five-consecutive holes of bogey or worse dampened her score card near the end of her round.
 
Finishing behind Loibl, and sitting tied for 31^st overall, was Sami Penor. The sophomore shot a +9 score of 81 after getting helped out by a stretch of five-straight pars in her last six holes of the day. Each time she recorded a birdie, she bogeyed the hole directly before or the hole directly after, which wiped that out and made pars especially valuable on the day.
 
Alexis Gopfert (82 | +10) and Marcel Manalo (84 | +12) rounded out Biola's four countable scores on the day. Neither of them had a birdie on the day. Sophia Karnazes had the non-countable score in this one, posting a +18 after a challenging time on the course's back nine holes.
 
The tournament has its final round booked for Tuesday at Corica Park. It's supposed to be sunny with a high temperature of 71 degrees on Tuesday. Coach Carr's team will look to move up the leaderboard quite a bit with a round closer to their season-average of 307. The Eagles enter the final day still within seven strokes of a top-5 finish.
