GOODYEAR, Ariz. --- The Biola Eagles' placement on the team leaderboard stayed steady during Tuesday's second round of the RJGA Shootout at Estrella. Head Coach Jane Carr's group never dropped below seventh in the 18-team field at any point during the single round of play and ended up finishing at the spot, three strokes ahead of Embry Riddle (Ariz.) and one place better than Biola's finish a year ago. 

Cal State San Marcos won the tournament with a team score of 593 while Sonoma State and Point Loma were tied for second at +30 (606). The Eagles finished with a team score of 616 after carding a 313 in the second round. 

Rain delayed the start of Tuesday's round and the winds around Goodyear picked up noticeably around 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. But once those factors subsided, Jules Loibl became one of the headlines of the day for her team. 

Loibl started the day in 30th place on the individual leaderboard and headed to the back nine at +2 after starting her second round on hole three. But she steadily rose up the leaderboard with another characteristically clutch performance on the back nine, picking up a birdie on the second par-five hole of that part of the course (16) and walking off the 18th green with an even 36 on the back nine.

That stretch was all Loibl needed to climb into ninth with her final score of 76. The top-10 finish was the ninth of Loibl's career with Biola and her third over her last four tournaments stretching back to the 2018-19 season. She is now tied with teammate Tori Roeske for most top-10 finishes in a career for Biola Women's Golf.

Loibl's two-round score of 152 matched that of sophomore Sami Penor, who also finished in ninth place and made Biola the only PacWest team in the field to have two women in the top-10. The conditions may have help prevent Penor from recording any birdies on Tuesday after she picked up three during the first round. But she still sank par putts on six-straight holes and finished the day with an 80, tying her with Rachel Reynolds and Alexis Gopfert for Biola's third best round. 

Marcel Manalo had Biola's second-best score (77) and had a near carbon-copy day to Loibl, repeating her first round and moving up a significant portion of the leaderboard. Manalo finished in the top-25 after moving up 12 places, starting at even-par through her first three holes and picking up two birdies on the back nine. 

The Eagles will return to Arizona for their next tournament, heading to Prescott for ERAU Co-Ed Invitational on the week on October 6.
