SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. --- After a dominant Friday night up in Oregon, the Biola Cross Country teams logged a few more miles on the odometer on Saturday morning on the campus of CSU San Bernardino.

The Eagles sent groups to represent BU in the 2019 Coyote Challenge and saw a bunch of runners drop some serious time in setting new season-bests. The women's team finished ninth and men's team 10th, but improvement was found all around.

Nine of Saturday's 13 runners improved upon their showing at the Biola Invitational. The top runner for the men's side was Nic Nelson, who recorded a massive improvement moving his time from 27:53 to 25:40. He finished 36th in the 8k event.

Faith Grisham led the women's effort. It was her first race of the season for the Eagles and she carded a 33rd-place finish at 18:57.96. Shannon Howell was not too far behind her in the women's field, recording a 19:15.84 to place 46th and also improve by nearly a minute from the Biola Invite. 

Rounding out the top-5 for the women were Hayden Barron (69th - 19:52.82), Kaylie Lawsen (79th - 20:10.62) and Crystal Jardines (81st - 20:13.42). In addition to those listed above, Amelia DeYoung also set a season-best with a 21:45, a 59-second improvement.

The men's race had the Eagles finish 10th, just a handful of points back from La Verne in ninth. Nelson paced the effort with his great run, and he was followed by Brendan Dowling (67th - 26:26.5), Houston Reese (70th - 26:32.4), Tanner Dutchover (80th - 27:00.7) and Joshua Oglesby (93rd - 27:25.0). 

Reese and Aden Wiebers (95th - 27:35.9) both improved by around two full minutes from two weeks ago, with Wiebers close to two-and-a-half minutes off. 

Biola is right back in action next Saturday as it heads up north for the Capital Cross Country Challenge near Sacramento. It's run on the course that will house this year's NCAA Division II National Championship.
