Rodriguez, Memory Earn Weekly Awards

Biola’s soccer programs earn two weekly awards from the PacWest Conference Office on Monday.

September 16, 2019

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- The PacWest Conference Office recognized two Biola soccer student-athletes with weekly awards on Monday, giving senior Christina Rodriguez Defender of the Week for women's soccer and midfielder Dylan Memory Freshman of the Week for men's soccer.

This is the first PacWest weekly award for both student-athletes, but Rodriguez earned GSAC and NAIA Defender of the Week honors in 2016 when Biola was still affiliated with the NAIA.

The Menifee, California-native was the only PacWest keeper to get through the week without allowing a goal, making five saves in 45 minutes at Seattle Pacific and turning in a clean sheet with six saves in Biola's 2-0 win at Concordia Portland. She'll carry a 177-minute scoreless streak into this coming week, as the Eagles only play on Saturday against Cal State San Marcos.

Memory's award is the second-straight Freshman of the Week distinction for Biola Men's Soccer after JD Gunn was recognized last week. Memory scored what turned out to be the game winning goal in Biola's 2-0 shutout over Cal State San Marcos. Memory then earned a start at UC San Diego on Saturday and played a total of 120 minutes last week.

He'll be back on Al Barbour Field with Head Coach Todd Elkins' group on Wednesday night when Biola hosts Cal State Dominguez Hills at 7 p.m.
