SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. --- Biola Swim & Dive's historic 2019-20 incoming class continues to grow with the addition of James Gamette. Gamette comes to Biola following a successful four years at San Clemente High School.

He helped SCHS to a league title in 2018 and captained the team in 2019. Gamette competed at CIF all four years and was a finalist in the 100-breaststroke. He was also a state qualifier and graduated as his school valedictorian with a 4.5 GPA.

He plans to major in aerospace engineering and go on to a career at NASA, Space X, DARPA, Boeing or Hewlett Packard.

"I chose Biola University for its excellent 3+2 Physics Engineering program and the welcoming Christian community. Having competed for 10+ years, I wasn't sure I wanted to continue to swim," said Gamette. "But, the caring nature of Coach Kauth and encouraging teammates reignited my fire. I want to swim for Biola because I know everyone here has a passion for their purpose and a genuine interest in seeing others succeed. I'm ready to be a part of something special! Go Eagles!"

He's a member of the California Scholarship Federation and was honored as a scholar-athlete. He's got a state seal of biliteracy in French and English.

In addition to his high school team, Gamette swam for San Clemente Aquatics Swim Team for over a decade. He attends Shoreline Church where he serves on the parking team.

Out of the water, Gamette loves to play basketball, creating videos and eating burritos.

Catch he and his teammates in the water this October as they begin their first season of NCAA Division II postseason eligibility.
