BOTETOURT, Va. --- Biola Softball is officially the number two seed in the eight-team field at the 2019 National Christian College Athletic Association Softball World Series. The
NCCAA announced the 2019 championship field late Wednesday evening and Biola sits atop pool B as the tournament's second-highest team.
Â
Joining Biola in Pool B is No. 3 seed
Judson University (27-16), No. 6 seed
Cincinnati Christian (21-20) and No. 7 seed
Ecclesia College (13-15). Judson made the tournament as the North Central region champion, defeating Hannibal-LaGrange University twice two days ago. CCU and EC made the tournament as the two at-large representatives.
Â
Judson (Ill.) is the only team in the pool that Biola's faced before. The Eagles and Eagles played each other once, in 2006, with Biola taking a 10-2 victory.
Â
Biola will play each team in its pool once. The top two teams in the pool will advance to a semifinal matchup against a pool A team. The winners of the semifinals meet on the final day of the tournament in a one-game championship.
Â
The NCCAA Softball World Series is held at the
Botetourt Sports Complex in Botetourt, Va. from March 15-17. The Eagles face Ecclesia at 9 a.m. PT and Cincinnati Christian at 1:30 p.m. PT on March 15. They finish pool play against Judson at 7 a.m. PT on May 16.
Â
If they manage the top spot coming out of pool play they would play in a 3 p.m. PT semifinal later on May 16. That semifinal would be against the No. 2 advancing team from Pool A.
Â
All games of the tournament will be live streamed on the
NCCAA Network. Single game passes are available for $6.95. A pass for all games of the tournament can be purchased for $32.95.
Â
Pool A features No. 1 seed
Erskine (35-14), No. 4 seed
Concordia (Mich.) (27-20), No. 5 seed
Southwestern Assemblies of God (30-26) and No. 8 seed
Kentucky Christian (24-31). Biola has never faced any of the teams in Pool A.
