WINONA LAKE, Ind. --- There was lots of great happenings on the first full day at the National Christian College Athletic Association Track & Field Championships. The Eagles had a pair national champions and five total All-American finishes to get off to a hot start.

Today included thee conclusion of the men's decathlon, where Nathaniel Belden competed in the final five events and earned a second-place finish with 6,083 total points. He was in first through nine events, but David Martin of Greenville used a strong 1,500 to get the win.

Belden had a fantastic meet, earning first-place finishes in the 100m, shot put, 110m hurdles and javelin. He set new personal-bests in shot put, discus and javelin. He went top-3 in seven of the 10 events.

Outside of the decathlon there was still a whole lot of good going on for the members of Biola Track that made the trek to Indiana.

Hannah Hubbard earned the Eagles' first national championship of the meet when she went out and won the triple jump in very convincing fashion. She hit a mark of 11.35m on her second leap of the day, which was good enough to lock down the title.

She topped that in her final two attempts, but was flagged. Things are looking up for her as she moves into the long jump tomorrow and into her junior season next year.

Mackenna Mason added a second national championship for BU by leading from wire-to-wire in the women's 10,000m. Mason finished the race with a 39:09.28 to win by over one minute and make it back-to-back women's 10k championships for Biola.

The last action of the day is where Biola added its two final All-American honors. Both the women and men's 4x800m relay teams ended up on the podium, with the men using a nice surge from Luke Sutherland at the anchor to move into third place.

The women's team of Shelby Rogers, Kaitlyn Natividad, Siena Stacy and Shannon Howell placed second in the women's race with a total time of 9:20.47. Stacy and Rogers had the top splits with 2:17.2 and 2:18.6, respectively.

The men's third-place finish came with a 7:53.46 total time. Aditya Lal split 1:56.8 to lead the effort.

Biola had a pair of runners go in the prelims today. Shelby Rogers (:59.71) and Mathias Davis (:49.58) each qualified for finals in the 400m by finishing second in their heats.
