Signing Announcement for Patrick Waggoner

State Champion Heads West

Biola Swim & Dive adds one of Arizona’s fastest.

May 31, 2019

GILBERT, Ariz. --- A state champion individual medley swimmer moves west to join Head Coach Ryan Kauth's swiftly-growing Biola Swim & Dive program. Patrick Waggoner made waves the last few years as a homeschooled student in the swiftly-growing town of Gilbert, Arizona. Now, he'll look to be a big part of the Eagles' success in NCAA Division II.

Waggoner comes to Biola specializing in freestyle and butterfly but also excelling in the IM. His top times listed on CollegeSwimming.com indicate he comes in with a 100-freestyle best of :47.56, a 100-butterfly best of :52.27 and a 200-IM best of 1:55.69.

His incoming 200-IM time is just one-tenth of a second back from the school record set by Brandon Hughes back in 2013.

"I'm really excited about Biola, I visited the campus and swim team last fall and I felt so welcomed by Coach Kauth and the team," said Waggoner. "They are building a really great competitive team at Biola and I'm proud to be a part of it. The campus was beautiful, I really enjoyed every part of Biola."

Waggoner plans to major in kinesiology during his time at Biola. He is a member of the National Society of High School Scholars after a stellar high school career.

During that high school career Waggoner won several state championships and was a sectionals qualifier and finalist.

Catch Patrick and the rest of the team over at SPLASH! Aquatics Center when they open the 2019-20 season this coming October. More information about other incoming student-athletes can be found on the Committed Athletes page.
