Signing Announcement for Owen Setran

Setran Brings Scoring Capability

Owen Setran adds to the number of former Warriors playing for Biola Men’s Soccer and brings an all-conference resume.

May 29, 2019

WHEATON, Ill. --- The Biola Eagles wouldn't say no to replicating some of Wheaton Academy Soccer's success by adding some of the Warriors' best players to their roster. After going 24-4 two years ago, Wheaton Academy made it to the Regional Final Championship Match again this season thanks to another 20-win season and the scoring production of players like Owen Setran, who has committed to Biola for his collegiate soccer.

Setran will be a familiar name to Eagles fans after his brother Parker was a four-year starter and an All-PacWest selection in 2018. And Owen will have his own level of familiarity with the Eagles roster after playing at Wheaton Academy with goalkeeper JD Gunn and fellow incoming freshmen James and John Kilgallon.

That will give the Eagles five Wheaton Academy alumni on the 2019 Men's Soccer roster alone with senior Hunter Finnegan holding that distinction.

Setran was an All-Conference and All-Section player as a senior after scoring 13 goals and collecting 11 assists this season for the Warriors. That involved Setran in just under one-third of Wheaton Academy's 76 goals in 2018 while he and both Kilgallon brothers scored goals in a 3-1 victory that clinched the Warriors' seventh-straight Metro Suburban Conference title.

Away from the pitch, Setran was a three-time All-State selection for tennis and was named to Wheaton Academy's honor roll. He plans to major in business management at Biola and is excited about wearing an Eagle uniform with friendly teammates:

"I chose Biola because I loved the campus and met a ton of awesome people when I came to visit," said Setran. "I am excited to play soccer here because I am following in my brothers footsteps and will be playing with a bunch of my friends."

Owen Setran will join the Biola Eagles for their first season of NCAA postseason eligibility in 2019. More information about other incoming student-athletes can be found on the Committed Athletes page.
