LA MIRADA, Calif. --- The 2019 Biola Softball season officially came to a close last week, and the athletic awards given to that team wrapped up this week with the announcement of the National Christian College Athletic Association year-end honors.

The Eagles landed two NCCAA All-Americans in Kayla Neff and Ruth Munoz. Neff earned All-American first team honors and Munoz placed on the second team. It's the second year in a row that Biola has had two NCCAA All-American award-winners. Check out the full listing of NCCAA Award Winners.

It's the second-straight week of postseason award wins for Neff, who was named NFCA NCAA Division II All-West Region last week alongside Paige Austin. Check out the full listing of NFCA Regional Award Winners.

Neff had a career year for Biola this year to earn the NCAA regional recognition and NCCAA national honors. She was one of four PacWest Conference players to land on the NFCA All-Region First Team. She was the only west region player to land on the NCCAA All-American first team.

She finished the season with remarkable numbers, hitting .424 with a career-high eight homeruns. She drove in 34 runs and scored 32 of her own to power a Biola offense that hit .306 as a team and scored over 220 runs in a rain-shortened season that saw the team miss out on 10 games.

"Kayla has had such a breakout year and is a key part to our team's success," said Head Coach Nikki Udria.

Paige Austin joined Neff with NFCA All-Region honors. The pair became the Eagles' first NCAA Division II all-region players in program history. Austin found a spot as one of the two pitchers on the second team, making her one of the four best pitchers in the west region, which includes the PacWest, CCAA and GNAC conferences.

Austin sparkled during her sophomore campaign, especially during last week's NCCAA World Series. She ended the season with 142.2 innings pitched and limited batters to a lowly .164 batting average against while striking out 159 in her time in the circle. She compiled a 14-7 overall record and through her two years in a Biola uniform now has a remarkable 29-14 record with a 1.71 ERA and over 300 strikeouts in almost 300 innings worked.

"It has been a great honor to watch both Kayla and Paige develop into their leadership roles this year," said Udria. "Paige has been battling all year and I am just so happy to see her be blessed with an amazing accomplishment."

Finally, Munoz  showed up in a major way last week at the NCCAA World Series to catch the attention of the NCCAA coaches and earn herself NCCAA All-American second team honors.

It was a breakout year for the sophomore, who started nearly every game at third base and grew into a leadership role on the team. Her stellar defense, paired with her ability to bat at any spot in the lineup, made her an invaluable weapon for Udria this season.

Munoz upped her batting average by over 100 points from last season to hit an astounding .374 in her 38 games played this season. She scored 29 times and drove in another nine to make her a large part of what BU was accomplishing on offense. She also led the team with 13 stolen bases in 15 attempts. Her .459 on-base percentage was second only to Neff's .477.

She was one of two players to work double-digit walks (16) and led the team in that category. She also had five more walks than strikeouts.

Biola Softball finished the season 28-17 overall and as the runner-up in the NCCAA World Series. Catch Udria in the squad back out there in 2020 as they gun for their first PacWest Conference title and NCAA Division II postseason berth.
