ROWLEY, Mass. --- Over the past year particularly, Gabe Berthoud has put in a lot of hard work to get where he wanted to be for his collegiate soccer career and it's paid of for him. Berthoud has earned a spot on Biola's Men Soccer Roster after taking All-Star honors as a senior and impressing the Eagles' coaching staff at prospect camps.

Berthoud will be the third member of his family to come to California from Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School for collegiate soccer after two of his older sisters joined the Westmont Warriors from the school. Berthoud's boys soccer team at Hamilton-Wenham Regional qualified for the state playoffs all four years he was in high school and amassed a total of 40 wins.

This past season, Berthoud was recognized with Cape Ann League All-Star and Salem News All-Star honors after scoring five goals and collecting three assists to go along with a multi-goal match for the Generals as a senior. That success came after Berthoud's impressive performance at Biola's prospect camp last summer, where Berthoud stood out because of his workrate and winning attitude that made him a great fit for the Eagles roster.

The University also figures to be a great fit for Berthoud, whose desire to combine his Christian faith with soccer has already led him to go on two missions trips with the Charlotte Eagles to Brazil and a trip to the Dominican Republic with the Chicago Eagles. Berthoud also plans to major in engineering at Biola's growing School of Science, Technology and Health, a major that allows him the opportunity to receive two degrees through Biola's 3+2 program.

"I chose Biola because of the ability I will have to incorporate my faith into the game of soccer, allowing me put two things I care deeply about into one," said Berthoud. "Also the weather in Southern California is much better than the East Coast!"
