Biola Track Adds Two NCCAA Awards

Pulliam and Thompson honored for 10,000m runs.

April 03, 2019

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola University Track & Field swept the National Collegiate Athletic Association weekly track awards with its performances at the 2019 Mike Fanelli Track Classic.

It was the distance runners who stood out most with Ryan Thompson earning men's track runner of the week and Micaela Pulliam earning women's track runner of the week. Both student-athletes earned the award based off their performance in track's longest event - the 10,000m.

Thompson set a school record with his run of the 10,000m. He broke his previous career-best which was set at last season's PacWest Conference championship. His previous best mark was 32:05.98 and the new time was 30:44.61. The school record had been set once in 1979 and 1985 and was 31:23.24.

Pulliam also set a career-best in her 10,000m run. She recorded a time of 37:13.62 and placed 35th in the field of 62. Both she and Thompson now own the fastest 10,000m run in the NCCAA this season. Pulliam's time is a full four minutes and 16 seconds faster than the second-best time in the NCCAA in 2019.

Catch both runners and the rest of the team at this weekend's Pomona-Pitzer Invitational.
