LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. --- Biola Women's Golf brought in a number of accolades after the final round of the PacWest Golf Championships as the Wigwam Golf Club on Wednesday. After Head Coach Jane Carr's group shot 305 for another solid round, four Eagles earned top-10 finishes to land on the All-Tournament Team and Biola finished in second place behind Academy of Art.

The Eagles were 16 strokes behind the Urban Knights to start the day and had shrunk the gap to 10 strokes after six holes before ART U pulled away for the Championship. But the Eagles' 305 helped them keep a healthy 20-shot lead over Point Loma for second. This is the first time have outplayed the Sea Lions this season in the six tournaments both teams have appeared in.  

The runner-up finish is one place better than Biola's mark at the 2018 PacWest Championships while the Eagles' overall team score of 908 was 36 strokes better than a year ago. This is the second time this season that four women have recorded top-10 finishes for Biola in one tournament, with the previous occurrence coming during the Eagles' win at the NCCAA National Championship in 2018.

After holding the top spot on the leaderboard through the front nine of round two, freshman Sami Penor took fourth place overall and was Biola's top-finisher after shooting a 76 on Wednesday. After picking up birdies on one, four and 15, Penor recorded an overall score of 223 to finish her freshman year with her best score of the season in 54-hole tournaments.

Sophomore Marcel Manalo surged for the Eagles on the final day with three birdies of her own for a 72, Biola's best score of the day. Manalo improved with each successive round at the Championships and dropped four strokes off her second round score to move up six spots and into a tie for seventh place. Her round at even-par is also the best single-round score of Manalo's collegiate career thus far.

Jules Loibl was one spot ahead of Manalo after two good stretch on the final day secured a 228 after three rounds at the Wigwam. Loibl had four-straight pars midway through the front nine and five-consecutive from holes 12 to 16 to card a 78 for her third sub-80 round at the Championships. This was the junior's fourth top-10 finish of the year, tying her with Alexis Gopfert for most on the team this season.

Gopfert was one of two Eagles to head to the back nine at even par on Wednesday and birdied three and four to quickly get to -2. Even after falling one spot on the leaderboard with an 80 during the final round, Gopfert earned her second-straight All-Tournament team honor by placing in ninth place.

Sophia Karnazes turned in BU's fourth countable score on Wednesday and carded a 79 for her best round of the tournament. Karnazes did not have a birdie on the final day. But she did have her best front nine of the Championships in the third round.

Head Coach Jane Carr's group will be a contender for a PacWest Championship and potentially NCAA regional play next year after this week's result. The 2019-20 season will begin in September.
