Box Score
LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola Women's Tennis got back to its winning ways on Friday afternoon with a clean 4-0 victory over the visiting Saint Katherine Firebirds in a match that took just over an hour and a half.

Play began with doubles, where Biola was dominant winning two matchups and leading the third to get the early point. Those two wins helped the Eagles move to 10-5 overall in doubles play this season.

Allison Torres and Lauren Lee paired up for the first time and it worked like clockwork. The two Eagles won 6-0 to start the match off strong and set the tone for what was to come. The other doubles win was at the no. 3 spot where Sarah Morgan and Anna Hartmann won 6-1.

"Number two doubles was great today," said Head Coach David Goodman. "Having the two juniors play together after being a part of the program the last few years was great. They really took care of business and played well."

The third doubles match did not finish, but it was still significant in that it was Madison Swaney's first appearance of the year. She and Esther Lee were up 4-3 (about to be 5-3) at the no. 1 position when their match was called.

"Madison has had to deal with a tough injury for the last year, so it was really good to see her out there healthy and able to compete," said Goodman. "Hopefully we can get her out there some more and for some singles soon."

Speaking of singles, Biola made relatively quick work of getting the win secured by winning the first three singles matches to come off the court.

Lily Waterhouse took down her opponent 6-0; 6-0 playing in the no. 4 spot in what coach Goodman called her "best match of the year." He also was sure to mention Hartmann, who added a second win of the day when she was victorious in straight sets at the no. 6 spot (6-0; 6-1).

Finally, it was the captain Lee who finished the match by putting away her opponent after a challenging second set. She won 6-1 in the first and then had to deal with some closer games in the second set before finally clinching the match with a 6-2 win for BU.

When the match was called off Tinisee Kandakai and Ines Diaz were both embattled in a third set at No. 1 and No. 2 singles. Sarah Morgan won her first set 6-1 and was working through her second at the no. 5 spot.

The win pushes Biola to 3-3 and dropped Saint Katherine to 1-6 overall. The Eagles have a busy week ahead of them with home matches on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week - all beginning at 2 p.m.
