SAN DIEGO, Calif. --- San Diego was the place to be this weekend as Biola Track & Field, Biola Tennis and Biola Baseball all had or have athletic events at Point Loma between Friday and Sunday.

Head Coach Sean Henning's track & field squad was there for the annual Ross & Sharon Irwin Collegiate Scoring Meet. The Eagles saw a handful of new personal-bests and a few top finishes en route to solid overall team finishes.

The women's side garnered exactly 100 points to finish sixth of 14 teams. The men's team racked up 78 points to place seventh in a field of 12.

It was a solid day for the men's distance runners with Angel Escobar and Brady DeHaven scoring the men's highest individual finishes of the afternoon, both placing third in their respective events.

Escobar went 15:17.71 in the 5,000m run to finish behind just two runners from NCAA Division 1-bound UC San Diego. DeHaven also finished behind just two other runners, going 10:13.57 in the 3,000m steeplechase to end behind a runner from APU and another from Babson (Mass.).

Anna Maumalanga was another who worked her way to top-5 finish and really helped the women's side charge up the leaderboard. She was responsible for 15 total points between her efforts in the shot put and discus. The sophomore set a personal-best in the shot put and finished fifth with her heave of 12.03m.

Rebeka Preston had one of the highest individual finishes on the women's side. She posted the best mark of her time at Biola with a 11.46m go in the triple jump. She finished third overall, only placing behind another UCSD Triton and a student-athlete from Navy. Her previous collegiate-best was a mark of 10.80m set in the first meet of the year.

The highest individual finishes on the women's side came from distance runners and came early on in the meet. Clara Haynes finished second (11:29.48) and Mandy Reyes third (11:35.22) in the 3,000m steeplechase, trailing only behind assistant coach Stephanie Croy who was running the meet as an unattached runner.

Aaron Jackson had a great day in the men's long jump. He set a personal-best with a mark of 6.56m and finished all the way up in fourth place. Nic Nelson also managed a top-5 finish for BU when he crossed the line in 4:03.00 to take fifth in the 1,500m. It was his best 1,500m in a Biola singlet.

J'Vaughan Singleton handled business in the other jump for Biola. His mark of 13.23m in the triple jump was the second-best this season for BU and helped him to place fifth.

Shelby Rogers held the torch for BU in the 400m. She finished just outside of the top-5 (sixth) with a collegiate-best time of :58.27. That event saw four PacWest Conference finishers place inside of the top-6.

Several others had personal-bests for BU this week, with Nathaniel Belden (100m), Mathias Davis (200m), Heidi Sowers (100m hurdles) and Sarah Rossiter (200m) to name a few.

Biola won't take much time to rest until its back on the road down to San Diego. The Eagles' next meet is this Thursday through Friday at the San Diego State Aztec Invitational.
