COMPLETE RESULTS

SAN DIEGO --- After suspending the first round on Monday due to the rainy conditions affect on the course, the 18-team field at the PLNU Sea Lion Invite elected to simply play out the round and complete the tournament on Tuesday.  

Rain still played a factor during the window the teams used to complete the final six holes. But the Biola Eagles held their ground and secured an eighth-place finish with a team score of 326 (+38). Jules Loibl and Marcel Manalo led the way for Biola with scores of 77 and 78, respectively, to earn top-11 finishes. Every golfer in the field finished over-par through 18 holes with 74 being the top score.

Head Coach Jane Carr's group was able to play through 11 to 12 holes before play was ceased, playing through the downpour to deliver five birdies as a team. Manalo was particularly impressive as she navigated tough conditions in her first competition of the 2018-19 season. The sophomore had two birdies on Monday and was at +4 to begin Tuesday before finishing the par-five three in four strokes and paring two other holes to card a 78.

Loibl birdied three and her finished her round with another on five to play even through her final seven holes and finish with her team's best score. Regularly regarded as a clutch finisher, Loibl saved par on 11 holes during the invite and gets to put her 77 score in her quiver as one of her top-five rounds so far this season. She tied for the tournament's best mark on par-five holes at -2 and was tied for fifth on par-three holes at even-par.

Freshman Sami Penor concluded her round at Rancho Bernardo Inn GC with an 85 and a top-50 finish after making par on five holes Monday. Upperclassmen Alexis Gopfert and Tori Roeske carded 86 and 87, respectively, and did well to play the shots they needed to avoid triple bogeys. Neither women had a triple bogey while on the saturated playing surface Tuesday and Gopfert never had a score worse than +1 on the six holes she played.

Biola's next tournament comes in four weeks when the Eagles travel north to Alameda, California for the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout hosted by Cal State East Bay.
