BEAUMONT, Calif. --- Once Austin Bishop got going on Monday at the CSUSB Coyote Classic, the course could do little to stop him. The Glendora, California-native walked off at one-under when play was suspended at the Oak Valley Golf Club through 31 holes and helped his team move up three spots in the second round while nesting himself in a tie for fifth place.

Bishop started the day with three bogeys but quickly straightened things out by birdieing two of the next five holes and avoiding any scores that were over-par for the latter 15 holes of his first round. He completed his initial play-through with a birdie on the par-three 11 to bring his score to -1 and went as low as -2 when he birdied 15 near the start of his second round.

With the five-hole completion of the second and another full round to play on Tuesday, Bishop sits five strokes back of the overall leader and is three strokes up on the players currently tied for 10th place.

And while Bishop was chasing the top of the leaderboard, his teammates had their share of good stretch to help Biola make some movement as well. After finishing the first round in 12th place and two strokes outside of the top-10, both Kyle McAbee and Kaden Page rattled off a few birdies midway through the front nine to help Biola climb into sole possession of ninth place at the end of Monday.

Page birdied five and seven during his second play-through on Oak Valley and played holes three to eight at even par after going +4 on that same stretch of holes during his first round. On that same stretch of the course, McAbee stayed locked in during the second round after using an eagle on five to drop four strokes between holes one and seven in the first round.

During his second look at those holes, McAbee delivered four-straight birdies beginning at the par-four two and walked away from the fifth holes at even par after starting the second with a round score of +4.

The Eagles are now just five strokes outside out fifth place headed into play Tuesday. Completion of the second round will start a 8 a.m.
