It's Time For Top Times

Biola Swim & Dive competes at the Collegiate Winter Invite this week, looking for personal-bests and national cuts.

December 05, 2019

MONTEREY PARK, Calif. --- It's here! Biola Swim & Dive has been gearing up for the Collegiate Winter Invite for quite some time and has its sights set on some personal-bests and possibly the program's first-ever NCAA Qualifying Times over the three-day meet weekend.

The Eagles travel to East Los Angeles College for the meet hosted by La Verne College on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 6-8.

The meet begins with prelims at 10:00 a.m. on Friday morning and has 5:00 p.m. finals races on Friday night. Each day has the same schedule with a prelim session and finals session each day, similar to a conference championship meet.

You will see the full meet schedule listed below. This meet typically features live results in the Meet Mobile App. So we should all be able to follow live with that, although the meet is not currently populating in the app so there's a small chance they will not provide that service this year.

Regardless, a recap of each day's activities will be provided at athletics.biola.edu and we will do our very best to provide live updates on our social media channels as they are made available.

The meet is hosted at the ELAC Swim Stadium on the campus of East LA College in Monterey Park. ELAC charges $2 per day (Monday - Saturday) for visiting parking permits.

The hosts, La Verne, welcome Biola, Concordia Irvine, The Master's University, Westmont and Whittier to the pool this year. The Eagles' goal is to swim fast, earn some NCAA cuts where possible, set new top times and show that Biola Swim & Dive has officially arrived as a program to be reckoned with in the college aquatics world.

That's been the goal from day one this season, and Head Coach Ryan Kauth's team has been accomplishing it on a regular basis, so the expectation is much the same this week and is reflected by how he structured each swimmer's event schedule.

There will be plenty of tough swims this weekend, with some even going in back-to-back events to maximize point scoring possibilities for BU.
