Columbine's Captain Commits

Jackie Mudd makes the trip west to join Biola Swim & Dive.

December 18, 2019

LITTLETON, Colo. --- Jackie Mudd has kept busy during her high school career at Columbine High School. She's a three-sport athlete, student leader, Fellowship of Christian Athletes member and excellent academic.

Mudd swims, competes in gymnastics and also golfs for the Rebels. She's made state in swimming all four years and also made state in gymnastics, and she plans to spend her next four years as a Biola Eagle in Head Coach Ryan Kauth's growing program.

"Coming from Columbine, one of the most well-known high schools in the country, I have grown up with a sense of community and school pride," said Mudd. "I felt like Biola had those same priorities and the same atmosphere. Everything just felt right – academically, athletically, spiritually – and feel like God was leading me to Biola to be an Eagle."

Mudd plans to swim butterfly, individual medley and relays for the Eagles and comes to BU with top times of 1:01.1 in the 100-butterfly, 2:13.3 in the 200-IM and :55.6 in the 100-freestyle.

During her time at Columbine Mudd earned all-conference honors and was part of two league record-holding relays. She captained the team and was part of relay groups that set three school records.

In addition to swimming for her school she spent six years with the DU Hilltoppers USA Swim Club and was a 17-time Colorado Sumer Club State Champion.

While accomplishing all that in the water, Mudd's been just as active out of the pool. She's got a perfect 4.0 grade point average to earn Academic All-State and Academic All-Conference honors. She helped her swim team have the highest team GPA in the whole state and was a four-time Columbine Scholar Athlete of the Week. She plans to major in kinesiology/pre-physical therapy at Biola. Mudd hopes for a career as a physical therapist working with paralyzed patients.

Catch Mudd in the water with her Biola Eagles teammates beginning Fall 2020.
