MONMOUTH, Ore. --- Biola Women's Cross Country took 14th in its first-ever NCAA postseason competition, running a flat course on a cold, foggy morning up in Oregon Saturday.

Mackenna Mason led the entire way for Head Coach Sean Henning's team, recording a new season-best time of 21:24.64 to finish 25th overall in the field of nearly 190 student-athletes. 

As anticipated, Chico State won the regional with 75 total points accumulated. It was a dominant effort for the Wildcats, with the second-place team Northwest Nazarene finishing with over 130 points. Biola accumulated 368 points to finish 14th overall as the second-best PacWest Conference team in the field (Fresno Pacific - 12th).

CSU, NNU and third-place CSU East Bay all automatically advance to NCAA Nationals in Sacramento in two weeks. Northwest Nazarene is a big surprise, as the Nighthawks came into the championship unranked in the region and finished fifth in their own conference just last week. CSUEB was ranked fifth coming into the event.

All five of Biola's scorers earned season-best times as Mackena Mason was followed by Grace Catena, Clara Haynes, Kaili Waller and Mandy Reyes.

Catena was 61st with a 22:09.16. Haynes went 22:31.92 to finish 91st. Waller came in right behind Haynes in 95th with a 22:33.87, while Mandy Reyes closed out the scorers with a 22:40.58 to place 108th.

Siena Stacy (22:44.44) and Kaitlyn Natividad (22:40.58) also recorded solid finishes for Biola as the tiebreak scores.

It was a 27-team field this Saturday, and Biola managed to check in ahead of three of the other PacWest Conference teams that made the trip, including Azusa Pacific.
