LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Last weekend Biola Swim & Dive dismantled rivals Azusa Pacific in a two-day, two-team dual meet. To start the week, the Pacific Collegiate Swim & Dive Conference rewarded the Eagles for their effort by honoring Chloe Hartman as the NCAA Division II Diver of the Week and Anna Haaksma as the Swimmer of the Week.

Biola earned its first victory against Azusa Pacific and setup a chance to take Cornerstone Cup points off APU later in the year at the PCSC Championships. The two awards given this week have Biola's total up to six PCSC NCAA Division II weekly awards so far in 2019-20. 

Biola has earned at least one such award during each of its three meet weekends. 

Haaksma, between her individual and relay swims, helped contribute 36 points to Biola's effort this past weekend. She won the 100-breaststroke (1:08.69) and 200-breaststroke (2:30.82) and also helped the Eagles earn a victory in the 400-medley relay.

"Anna has been one of the primary pulses of the women's team in workouts and at meets to this point, so it's no surprise to see her name voted as PCSC Swimmer of the Week," said Head Coach Ryan Kauth. "As a freshman, she has lead by example since the day she arrived and showed as strong a work ethic as anyone I've ever coached in three years at Biola. She inspires her teammates, and the coaching staff, to give more every day, which is what makes her so special. We are truly blessed to have her a part of our program."

Hartman had a full diving weekend for the first time this season, participating in both the one-meter and three-meter board to kick-off the week's festivities at Lansing Pool.

The freshman finished fourth in that first three-meter dive, accumulating 174 points. She also took home fourth in the one-meter effort with 223.20. She gained four points for Biola as the divers exceeded expectations and gave a glimpse into the exciting future of diving at Biola.

"Chloe is someone that originally took a chance as the first diver in three years to sign on to the Biola diving program, and is now, under the guidance of diving coach Lisa Treguboff, thriving on the collegiate level," said Kauth. "Chloe fearlessly competed in her first 3-meter competition this past weekend and showed why she is a special talent. Even with so much untapped potential on both boards, she is still able to walk away with conference weekly awards! I couldn't be more proud of Chloe and all that she brings to the swim and dive program at Biola."

The swim & dive teams are back in action this Saturday at the SOKA Invitational.
