LA MIRADA, Calif. --- To College Sports Information Directors of America association gave senior centerback Jake Munivez official recognition on Tuesday for his academic acumen and contribution on the soccer pitch.

Munivez and Hawaii Pacific Garett Arzberger were the only two PacWest student-athletes to appear on the District 8 Academic All-District Team. The sports information directors of the district, which includes the PacWest, GNAC and CCAA, recognized Biola's All-Conference centerback after he also earned a 3.89 GPA as a nursing major. 

While excelling in the classroom, Munivez has started 34-consecutive matches for the Eagles and has played over 1,500 minutes in back-to-back seasons. He is the first member of Biola Men's Soccer to appear on the Academic All-District team since forward Keaton Kerr earned the honor in 2017. 

The Academic All-District teams are nominated and voted upon by members of CoSIDA and recognize student-athletes of sophomore standing or better who are starters or significant reserves for their teams with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.30 or better. The players selected will be put up for consideration for the Academic All-American Team.
