LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola Volleyball earned its most All-PacWest honors yet as it was announced Tuesday that Sami Hover, Raegan Tjepkema, Sabrina Winslow and Bekah Roth all earned all-conference honors.

It's the second All-PacWest recognition for Hover and the first for each of the other three. All four student-athletes landed on the PacWest's second team. Twenty-four total student-athletes from the 12 PacWest Conference teams earned All-PacWest recognition. Hover is one of 12 athletes to earn the honor for a second time (or more).

Hover eclipsed the 600-dig mark for the second-consecutive season, piling on 614 to set a new career-high. She was second in the conference in that category and third in digs-per-set with another career-best number (5.43). She recorded nearly one full dig-per-set more than last season, and was top-35 in all of NCAA Division II on defense. She earned three PacWest Conference Defender of the Week honors.

"Sami is one of the top defensive players in the conference," said Head Coach Aaron Seltzer. "She's carried our team through tough stretches and single-handedly won matches for us defensively this year. Beyond that, Sami's leadership and presence on the court is something you cannot replace. She is our eyes and ears on the court and does a great job."

Sabrina Winslow had an incredible start and fantastic finish to her senior season at Biola. She won the PacWest Player of the Week award for the last week and finished her career with five consecutive matches with double-digit kills. She ended her four-year run with exactly 1,000 kills spread between her time at BU and Fresno State.

She ended the year with a career-best hitting percentage (.185) and had her second-best tally for kills-per-set (2.67). She also had the best blocking season of her career with over 0.6 blocks-per-set from the outside. She finished the year with 280 kills and 135 digs.

"Very proud of Sabrina and how she carried us at times this year," said Seltzer. "She had a phenomenal senior year and closed out the season in an amazing way. She was a great teammate and great leader and someone we will miss dearly."

Tjepkema stood out right from the start during her freshman campaign. The new middle blocker had 36 kills and 15 blocks in her very first weekend of collegiate volleyball. She hit over .400 twice that weekend which set the table for what would be her biggest strength all season.

She led the team in hitting percentage at .330 (69th in NCAA II) while recording the third-most kills on the team with 245. She led the team in service aces (40) and was second in blocks (105) in a tremendous all-around effort. Tjepkema and Winslow were the only Biola players to earn PacWest Player of the Week in 2019. They did it back-to-back in the last two weeks of the season.

"Everything went really well for Raegan this year," said Setlzer. "She was definitely one of the top two or three freshmen in the conference this year. She was a great all-around middle for us and shined in ways we didn't expect. She was a joy to watch and we're excited to have her for years to come."

Finally, Bekah Roth excelled in her first season playing on the right side for Biola. She transitioned from middle blocker, which is where she played the entirety of her freshman and sophomore campaigns. 

She and Winslow went back-and-forth as the team's top attacker on the season, with Roth carrying this Eagles' team through much of the middle portion of its schedule before Winslow caught fire near the end of the season.

Roth finished the season with a career-high of 267 kills, which is 70 more than her previous career-best. She did so on a .204 percentage while adding 60+ blocks and a couple of dozen digs.

"I thought that Bekah did a spectacular job transitioning from the middle to the right side," said Seltzer. "She helped stabilize our offense and was someone we leaned on regularly. She is someone that grown and developed as a player and person and is someone everyone appreciates and respects."

These four and their teammates worked hard all season to earn Biola a 17-13 overall record and 14-8 mark in PacWest Conference play. It was a great showing despite Biola having the toughest overall schedule in the PacWest and 87th toughest in all of NCAA Division II.

Sabrina Winslow had her senior day this past weekend, but all three of Biola's other all-conference honorees will return for the 2020 fall season. Biola's big goal will be making NCAA Division II postseason for the first time.
