LA MIRADA, Calif. --- In the third week of PacWest Conference weekly basketball awards Biola student-athletes accounted for three of the six total honors. Biola Men's Basketball went 3-0 to see Solomon Ruddell recognized as PacWest Defender of the Week and Zanen Zeller earn PacWest Freshman of the Week. On the women's side, Stephanie Lee won PacWest Freshman of the Week for the second time after leading BU to an 18-point win over Hope International Saturday.

Lee scored 11 points off the bench in Biola's 78-60 win over Hope International. She went 3-for-4 from beyond the arc in the victory and also chipped in four rebounds, two steals and two assists while scoring eight of her points in the second half. 

Lee ended the week with 11 steals through five games this season, ranking her third in the PacWest in that category. The Brea, California-native is joined by three other Eagles in the conference top-five for steals: Aysia Johnson (12), Jelissa Puckett (10) and Danita Estorga (10). 
Solomon Ruddell earned his first recognition as an Eagle mostly on the merit of his shot-blocking abilities. The 7-footer had five blocks in Biola's Saturday night win over Maine-Fort Kent and added five in the previous two games of the week to have 10 total in the Eagles' three wins. His contributions have Biola averaging 4.6 blocks-per-game in the young season. That's up from the 2.8 number the team averaged in 2018-19.

The blocks are what earned Ruddell the defensive recognition, but he just as easily could've earned an offensive award for his work last week. The sophomore led the team in scoring against Maine-Fort Kent with 23 points and averaged double-digits (12.0) in that category. What's most impressive, though, is that he went 87 percent from the floor and a perfect 10-for-10 from the free-throw line last week.

Zeller wins his first Freshman of the Week award after seeing a bump in minutes in the Fort Kent game. The newcomer from Los Lunas, New Mexico had 12 points on the week, shooting 50 percent from the field. He added nine rebounds, two assists, two steals and, most importantly, zero turnovers to help the Eagles' effort.

Biola Men's Basketball is back in action Monday night (Nov. 25) when it hosts Saint Katherine at 7 p.m. for its final game of the preseason. Women's Basketball is off through the end of Thanksgiving, but comes back a bit early to play at CSU Dominiguez Hills on Saturday, Nov. 30. It's also the preseason finale for Head Coach Alan Nakamura's team.
