LA MIRADA, Calif. --- The PacWest Conference Office named JD Gunn the Freshman of the Week for the second time on Monday, recognizing the goalkeeper for his two clean sheets in Biola's last two matches.
Gunn previously won PacWest Freshman of the Week to begin the season. But he took his shot-stopping ability to a new level last week as he made seven saves across 180 minutes. Gunn saved the best of those spectacular stops for last, bringing the crowd at Al Barbour Field to their feet multiple times in the second half of Biola's 1-0 win over Notre Dame de Namur.
Biola Men's Soccer has now won the PacWest Freshman of the Week award in back-to-back weeks with Gunn's honor following
Alex Lugo's recognition last week.Â
The Wheaton Academy-alumni carries a streak of three-straight shutouts into his next match, making him the first goalkeeper from Biola Men's Soccer since JT Addington concluded the 2013 regular season with five-consecutive clean sheets.Â
The Eagles have a 2-0-2 conference record after posting a tie and a win last week. They'll host the Hawaii Hilo Vulcans at Al Barbour Field on Saturday at 7 p.m.Â
